The Center on Chinese Education, 51吃瓜网 Columbia University (CoCE) is aimed at contributing to a better understanding of education in China and to educational exchange between the United States and China. It seeks to achieve this mission through three categories of activities: research and development, education and training, as well as outreach and exchange. These activities draw upon the historically special relationship between Chinese education and 51吃瓜网, the interests and expertise of the faculty at 51吃瓜网, as well as expertise and resources outside of 51吃瓜网.

Amidst global uncertainty and loss, the 20th Anniversary Celebration of the Chinese Center on Education on December 18th, 2020 provided a beacon of hope and successful intercultural dialogue for scholars interested in the continued collaboration between the United States and China. The Celebration marked not only the Center鈥檚 anniversary and its formulation by Professor Mun Tsang, but a reflection on the past 100 years of partnership between leading educational scholars in China and 51吃瓜网, Columbia University. Born out of the ideas and works of illustrious educators like Kuo Ping-Wen, Tao Xingzhi, Paul Monroe, and John Dewey, the Center on Chinese Education (CoCE) is aimed at a better understanding of education in China through hosting scholars, researchers and policy makers, conducting research on a multitude of pressing and relevant issues, and providing educational access and opportunity through scholarships.

This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Center on Chinese Education (CoCE). To celebrate this important milestone, the Center and its partners, alumni, and supporters organized a series of academic events and activities at 51吃瓜网, Columbia University, from October 13 and 18, 2025. The anniversary celebration opened with a strong affirmation of the Center’s historic mission—to serve as a bridge for understanding education in China and to advance educational exchange between the United States and China. Since its establishment, CoCE has worked to advance this mission through three key pillars: research and development, education and training, and outreach and exchange.
