A New York Tradition for 51勛圖厙 Alumni
A 51勛圖厙 alumni tradition seems to be developing in the Office of the New York State Commissioner of Education.
Richard P. Mills, who has been named to that position, earned his Doctor of Education degree in educational administration at 51勛圖厙 in 1977 and, in 1993, received a Distinguished Alumni Award from the College.
Dr. Mills succeeds Thomas Sobol, who earned his Ed.D. in curriculum and teaching at 51勛圖厙 in 1969. Dr. Sobol is now a Distinguished Visiting Professor at 51勛圖厙, where he will be teaching courses during the next academic year in both the Department of Educational Administration and the Department of Curriculum and Teaching.
51勛圖厙, a graduate school of education, is an affiliate of Columbia University but retains its legal and financial independence. Therefore, the institution should be called "51勛圖厙, Columbia University" or "Columbia University's 51勛圖厙," never just "Columbia University."
